I found this book very intriguing and often shaking my head in disbelief; because of how relatable some of the personality traits mentioned in the text are to myself. I find that I may based on what has been mentioned so far in the book I'm an ambivert; as I have both characteristics of an introvert and an extrovert person. I often find myself multi-tasking during the day quite frequently, however I believe that I'm able to concentrate well with regards to my classes and life in general.
Even though I don't have any real issues focusing in my classes, I prefer seminar style classes as opposed to lectures. This is because I think that seminars help me get fully in-gauged and really actively help my learning. I don’t mind speaking up in a class discussion in order to communicate my idea out loud even if I’m not correct. This is what really helps one learn in general, to learn from mistakes. The opposite is true with my coursework as I prefer to work alone on projects as this is where I believe I get to be at my most productive. This characteristic is true for an introvert person, and one that I find to not always be the case. I enjoy my solitude however I also enjoy going to bars and going out with friends. This book has greatly helped my understanding of how I learn personally already. It puts the learning into two basic personalities, the introvert and the extrovert. I think that being an ambivert person can be an advantage to ones learning as it can combine the best of both types of people.
I can definitely relate to a lot of your post! I too have some of both traits but for me I feel as if some of them are forced because I feel like that’s what I should be doing. Also, the way you described your learning style was how I feel most of the time however I think it depends on the class. For me it depends on what the class is in. A lot of the time, if I’ve done an activity I have a better understanding of the topic however, other times I feel like it was a huge waste of time and it might have been more beneficial to lecture. I can see how this would be an advantage to someone’s learning capabilities. It might be a little easier for an ambivert to deal with a teaching style that might not be ideal.
ReplyDeleteI also think that I have both traits. I think it's good to be comfortable in both situations. It makes you a more adaptable person. Life is easier if you are able to adapt to different situations instead of always being uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI think ambivert is a very good personality. I am a introverted personality person, I like to do most things by myself in a quiet environment. I can get more efficient thinking when I doing the homework alone. But, I can not do some courses well because of the introverted personality. I did not good about the discussions or some group works. My personality makes me have few words. But I think the extrovert personality people sometimes are not so clam. Ambivert personality is very balanced personality.
ReplyDeleteAmbivert sums up my personality as well. It is very entertaining to see how many different personalities are around. Everyone has some mixture of extrovert and introvert. Ambivert is a very good mix and is very adaptable to many people and situations.
