Sex and Blood

So many people that I asked regarding this trial were stunned that I don't remember it.  After watching videos and reading the material some things sounded familiar.  The media attraction to this particular story obviously comes not just from the fact it deals with a female murderer which is rare but the fact that she is also attractive and there was much sexual talk involving this case.  The media cannot refuse a good sex scandal especially if it is attached to a pretty face.  Looking at the surface of this Jodi seems to be a beautiful, normal girl, whom wants what most girls wanted, a life with the man of her dreams.  To believe she was capable of murder went against most peoples preconceived notions.  I believe this case sparked a lot of controversy because of the fact she was a woman, could you believe someone like her, someone like your daughters or friends could be capable of murder?  Or even so could she be capable of such strange sex acts?
There was so much controversy because some people didn't want to believe she was mentally capable of it nor physically capable of it.  The poor man was not just stabbed once but multiple times, shot and also had his throat slit.  That is pretty gruesome even for the most awful of all killers.  She made such a convincing story of how some broke in, this murder is strangely capable of two men intruding but not of a poor girl.  Jodi had people wanting to believe she wasn't capable of this.  When you have such a great divide there is much more attention to the story.

  1. The normal, decent-looking appearance Jodi has was for sure the major contributor towards why this case turned out the way it did. She's a psycho murderer that stabbed him thirty times in the shower, which has to be one of the most cold-blooded, painful things that someone could inflict on another. The case should have been sealed within months, but it's instead ongoing a year and a half later. Television ratings and people not easily accepting that appearance doesn't reflect everything is why this story stayed so popular.

  2. Katherine,
I really enjoyed reading your post. It was very interesting the way you put out all the details of the case, I do agree with you that the media will do anything to get a good story. Jodi did everything that she could to prove that she was innocent but in the end, she ended up being guilty of the murder and put into jail. It is still hard to believe that someone like her would murder someone.
