Personally when I want to escape the realities of the world I watch movies and TV shows. But why do we turn to these fantasy shows when we are feeling so down? I think that even though television provides a dream "fantasy" lifestyle it helps us escape. We can sit down after a hard day of school and watch a show where the main character is always relaxed and is funny to cheer us up in reality. But we tend to place ourself in many situations where we want the things that are not really going to happen in the real life the way we want them to. For example, we all want to be loved by someone. For some people, they wait around forever for love to just knock on their front door because they saw it on tv. The fantasy life can take us to a different world of happiness and joy instead of our stressful lives. Although the fantasy life seems ideal, if things were always good what would have to look forward to?
We put ourselves in many situations where we want to believe that the fantasy life is good for us, but is it? I think it is a great escape for a short period of time but, we should not get over excited for impractical lifestyles.
The fantasy world helps mold our imagination and creates a place that is like a zen for us. To some it may be imagining you are a character who is flawless and has everything they could ever want. For others it's dreaming they will be a millionaire and have a mansion with no more worries. For others it's thinking you will have food for every meal.
Each of us fantasize about our own things. The mind is excilerating and it takes us to a different place when we are down and then brings us back when we need to snap back to reality.
I so agree. you are right the fantasy world does only last for a short period of time. It is not something that happens for a long time, everything eventually comes to an end.I often watch TV shows when I am down to often make me laugh at times I do catch my self falling into a fantasy world but then come back to reality. I try to catch myself because it will probably be more heartache to know that the fantasy life you are trying to live will never happen.
