Harry Potter faces problems head on. He is a boy learning his way and becoming a
leader. Throughout Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling you see him mature and solve problems using
his bravery and past experiences to guide him.
There is a passage in this book that illustrates Harry making a decision
for the greater good, not just for him, but for his friends, his house and his
school.
On page 270, Harry Potter decides to go find the Sorcerer’s
Stone before Snape can get it and bring back Voldermort. Although his friends initially try to talk him
out of this action, Harry convinces them that it is the best option. He may not have known it at the time but his
decision influenced his friends to help him.
Harry Potter uses his passion and courage to motivate himself and his
friends to save the day. It’s because of
his past and his experiences with so many negative things that drive him to try
to make things right. Harry also
understands that he is better off with the help of Hermione and Ron. He recognizes that each person brings
something to the table that will help them get through bad situations. Harry gains knowledge of each situation by
the information his friends share and by his past experiences. Once he has taken in to count all of the information
and experience provided he is able to make a decision that is best for all
involved.
He may not have been aware of his leadership role at this
point in his life but as an audience we are quite capable of seeing Harry
Potter becoming a leader with in this book and series.
Travis, I agree with you that Harry is a leader through out the book. He may not necessarily recognize that he is a leader but he definitely shows the signs of a leader at times. Not only is he a leader, but he is an effective leader. Harry not only accomplishes things but he does so while using the help from his friends and being able and willing to take their advice at times. He is also smart when it comes to using past experiences that he has had in his life. You also make a good point about Harry not knowing he is a leader but as a audience we are able to see it clearly.
