In many scenarios of Winter’s Bone you see that Ree Dolly is a strong person, there is
no denying that. The perseverance with every situation she is faced with,
finding her dad, facing family she hasn't seen in many years, to running a
household without any real adult help. She goes and finds the man who wants
nothing to do with even so much as a talk, and follows him and faces a beating
by her own blood, yet still strives to obtain her goal of finding her dad. While
we know that Ree is not finding her dad for any real reason but to do what she
has always done which is be the care taker of the family, she knows that
without that house she has not a single way of even remotely taking care of her
family.
The scene that hit me the most was the part where she
was being drug off to the barn by people who were supposed to be blood, yet the
whole time could have cared less that this teenager was just trying to protect
her younger siblings from living a life she knew her father wouldn’t have
wanted for them. When uncle Teardrop
showed up to save her it really showed even though her blood was doing all this
harm he was truly out to stand next to her for the rest of time. Even when from
the very beginning he didn’t want to help her, as he couldn’t be bothered with
what we can assume were his own demons. I honestly think her strong will to
protect her younger siblings was inherited from her family.
Amy,
ReplyDeleteI would have to say I agree. It amazes me how through the first half of the film there was no family willing to help her then in the end they did to some extent. Most teenagers in this generation would have a hard time handling a similar situation. Although, when pushed into a corner most come out swinging.
