I chose Harry Potter's character to analyze. Harry loves the game of Quidditch. The way that J.K. Rowling writes about the Quidditch games, the details, and the action keep you on the edge of your seat while reading it. She uses a game commentator to tell the story of the game. Harry seems to be a natural at riding his Nimbus Two Thousand. The issue was that he did not know anything about the game or the rules. He had never even saw a game played before.
Harry learned about the history of Quidditch from a book that Hermione loaned him called Quidditch Through the Ages. He also practices with his team several days a week after school. After Harry gets the rules down and learns the game he becomes a star player. He uses his instinct and amazing broom riding skills to score with the Quaffle and look for the Snitch.
Like many young boys Harry enjoys his sport and looks forward to playing it. Joining the team helped him make friends and fit in better in the unfamiliar wizarding world.
I definitely can see what you're saying when you state that Rowling keeps you interested in what the story has to say. With the way she describes scenes it’s almost like you’re a fly on the wall as it were. Harry can pick up on material quickly when he puts his dedicates his time into whatever he is trying to master, in this case, Qudditch. I think that since he picked up the game so quickly this proves that he’s a very inquisitive person. This also can relate to the fact that he can adapt to environments, such as an unfamiliar world of wizardry.

ReplyDeleteI’m not too familiar with the whole Harry Potter’s story, however I had to read it anyways for class. I like the fact that you choose to talk the game quidditch. I wish you had elaborate more on the game and how Harry uses it to build up his character. Form reading your post, I believe that it was a summary of Harry reactions to the game than analyze of his character. Analyze is an examination of the element or structure of something. Interpretation of how the game help to builds his character or how it makes him different from other character in the story would have been something interesting.
