Never Giving Up

        From the beginning of Winter’s Bone it was obvious that Ree Dolly was a powerhouse character. I wasn’t aware of just how powerful and strong willed she was until she began looking for her drug addicted father. It was an amazing and courageous thing for her to when she stepped up to the plate to play both mom and dad for her younger brother and sister but it was another to go out and physically find her dad. She could have easily given up and given the kids to different families to take care of but she didn’t. She showed her loyalty to her family and went out and got the answers she needed.

        While watching the movie the scene that really caught my attention was right after she was beaten by Thump and his crew. Through all that pain and all that suffering when she had a chance to speak to Thump which was really all she was looking for, she did. She was straight to the point and Thump listened to her. Her strong will and loyalty to her family really stuck out to me at this moment. She could hardly see and hardly talk but she managed to get what she set out to do. If she would have not said what she did to Thump and wouldn’t have went through all that trouble just to get there, she wouldn’t have gotten her father’s hands and her and her family would be struggling just to stay alive.
