Blog #6: Unit Reflection

After reading Amusing Ourselves to Death and watching The Social Network, respond to the following prompt in a 250-300 word entry. Your entry and two comments are due by Friday, October 3rd at 11:59pm.

How has electronic social networking affected forms of personal intimacy?

Don't write the "internet has destroyed intimacy" entry--that has been done already. Instead, aim to write about something specific and original, and keep in mind that these social networking platforms don't always "destroy" intimacy. For example, I just discovered that there is an entire dating site for cowboys looking for other cowboys! There's also a site for people who want to date African Americans only. And what about phone apps that link people together? The more specific you can be the better. Try to analyze one or two aspects of these social networking platforms in order to make a case about how they affect personal intimacy. And remember that personal intimacy can be defined in many ways (i.e., friendships, relationships, families, etc.).
