For once sex is not the first thing on our minds

Okay, so I understand that all aspects of space exploration need to be considered.  However, I think there are far more pressing questions regarding space travel, exploration and colonization of other planets, sex takes a back burner to all of the other issues to consider.  Yes, we have gone up in space and continue to go up in space but, there are so many unknowns to consider with normal life.  For example, some basic human needs still have yet to be considered like how are we going to produce food and water to sustain life?  As a tax paying citizen that funds research like this I most definitely agree with Kaku in saying that we want our money going to something that is going to benefit us. There are so many unknowns that I believe sex is possibly one of the last issues that should be addressed.  As a nurse I am very much about research and figuring out how the human body reacts to different environments but, how about addressing how adult humans can be affected by space life.  It is blatantly stated in these videos that being in zero gravity has a profound effect on the body including the heart.  I understand that the astronauts exercise and try to keep in good physical condition but sex involves a lot more than just exercise, how will our bodies react?  If we could do more research into sustaining normal adult human life and have all of our I’s dotted and T’s crossed then by all means start investigating sex.  There is so much at risk when thinking about sex because inevitably sex can turn out another human being and if cannot answer the question of how space-life affects adult humans over long periods of time then it would be irresponsible to risk, even for a second, having a human life begin from fertilization to birth without knowing the answers.  The video shows profound negative effects on rats, how would a human survive?  So, after all of that rambling, yes, I do believe that they should be held accountable for public opinion.  Our money runs the show which equates to tax payers having the say as to what goes on.

  1. I agree with what you have to say. I understand that if human intend to eventually create habitats on Mars that the investigation into reproduction is part of the process. What I don't understand is why NASA thinks that public opinion would even want them using tax dollars on making habitats in space. I can thing of other good uses for tax dollars that could help maintain and protect the Earth so that moving to another planet would not be necessary.

  2. I agree with you guys' opinions. Having sex is a nature desire since the ancient time like eating and sleeping. The astronauts live in the universe, they also have the nature desire like common human. And it is also a kind of research that having sex in the universe. On the other hand, having sex can help them relieve some stress. So, I do not think it should not be allowed.
