Is This Really Relevant?

When we were given this assignment I was a little confused how sex and space were connected. After watching it makes much more sense but it’s still strange to me. I am aware that space exploration is important but is it really that important to do a ton of research about having sex in space? I don’t feel like at this point in time it’s something that needs to be done. I absolutely feel that NASA should be held accountable for the opinions of the public because it’s the money they give that funds the program. If they can explain to everyone that this is an important discovery then they may be more open to the idea. It is very interesting to see that there would be so many birth defects if we were to reproduce and give birth in space but that’s really all I felt about it. If it was worth the money that taxpayers give, it would have to be something that would help us as humans. This isn’t really going to help us at the time being. It seems like it is more for the benefit of the astronauts.  I’m sure that it’s important to them while they are there but I’m sure they will figure out how to get it done if they want to bad enough. I have no issue with them doing what they feel is important while they are there but spending a ton of money researching a topic that is both controversial and not extremely relevant seems like a waste of time, energy and money.
