Before reading Packing
For Mars I never put much thought into what the universe is. I left that
job for NASA and extremely smart people. Although I still believe that it is a
huge space of nothingness with some stars and planets sprinkled in, I now know
there is a lot more to it. There is not only one universe but many. We also
want to believe that there are other forms of life out there and these are
probably in those different universes. It's honestly all a blur and most of
these thoughts are just made up to find some reason to life itself.
The
universe is a mysterious place and I believe that we won't fully understand it
even if the world's population lived out there. We will never fully understand
the concept of this universe and other universes. We can also make assumptions
and educated guessed but we will never know. This is exactly like life itself
and we will never fully understand that also. I think if we ever do (probably
never) fully understand the universe it would be too much for the human race to
handle. Then once it is understood what else is there to wonder? We always want
answers but I'm honestly okay with wondering. I love the unknown and thinking
about what things could possibly be. Having an answer would probably make my
life more boring with not having things to think about. What fun would our
lives be if we knew every single second that was going to happen before it
happened. That sounds boring to me honestly. We always want answers to things.
Why can't we just be okay with unknown things that we will possibly never
understand?
I see your point about letting some mystery remain rather than shedding light on it. But at the same time, I feel like it would be so cool to find something in space that we never knew existed. Knowing would take a little excitement out of it, but not knowing something sort of eats me up. Tell you what though, if aliens attack I feel like knowing about them beforehand would be a very good thing! Good post Alexa.
ReplyDeleteIn my post I made up the word "uncomprehendable" because that it how I feel this universe is to me! I agree with your thoughts, it is such a mysterious universe. I am so curious, and I completely agree that the full understanding of these things would be far too much for us to handle, as humans. If we dug into religious beliefs we would have a completely different theory and thoughts towards things. "Why can't we just be okay with unknown things that we will possibly never understand?" FAITH! I agree, we just have to have faith that everything works for a reason and everything is fine.

ReplyDeleteThe universe is vast and full of darkness. When I think of the universe I think of many things but for these purposes I will focus on the bigger picture, and identify some details along the way. The universe is ultimately space and there are many things that come to mind when one thinks of space. There are stars, planets, black holes, and vast areas of what is described as “dark matter”. Recently it has been found that the universe is primarily made of dark matter, which is dark areas that have exist in the vacuum of space. So dark matter in turn is what I often what I think of when I envision the universe. While the earth and our world certainly comes to mind; we are just ultimately a speck of dust in the vast, vast universe. There are many other galaxies, and solar systems out there other than our own. So that thought is humbling within itself, and that is a large reason as to why I only briefly think of our small rock (earth) when I think of the whole universe. Just to think that there may be another planet like ours somewhere out there. I personally believe it is naive to possibly think that we are the only form of life in our large universe we exist in. I see the other potential forms of life and all of the other stars, meteorites and other planets that have yet to be discovered. This universe is more than just our galaxy, there is much more out in the vastness of space to be seen.
