Risky Business
Sex is natural to humans and yes it is important in our reproduction. Many of us encounter relationships and go right for it or some of us wait. I think sex is something that affects the mind and the body. There are a lot of scary things that people do not even think about when they go to have children, like genetics. Sometimes putting two and two together does not make an even number, things can turn out odd. Having children is something special and any human who wants to reproduce should want a healthy child. I know that in a perfect world not everyone is healthy, but why put someone potentially at risk for your own enjoyment. THAT IS RUDE! I do not think that many people have considered how devastating human abnormalities already are on earth. There are so many things that can go right and wrong right on the planet we live on. I do not see where it is beneficial to research creating life in foreign areas. Being pregnant in space would have to be a horrible experience. Sure sex is interesting when you have a mate, but I think that having children is something that is to be taken seriously not to just have them because of science. We are already paying too much money for those who do not want to work, why put our taxpaying dollars here? I really have not enjoyed this blog entry at all to be honest. I think that it would be completely wasteful to spend taxpayers dollars on sex in space to create a life. I think that taxpayers dollars could go elsewhere rather than on sex. We have more important things to worry about. Yes, it should be up to the public because it could affect our future immensely if we have to move to mars but I think it is doubtful in our lifetime (saying the average person lives to be 73 years old). I do understand why it could be important however, because someday we have to move to Mars, but who knows when that may be. I do not think it is worth putting a life at risk, it did not ask for this. Why risk it all on a different planet that is so foreign to our bodies? If it affected the rats in space, of course it will affect humans, that is common sense... I also did not like that they tested on animals. I think that it is a terrible decision because if two people are going to space to create life then why create life at risk. The point of reproducing is to have healthy children.

I understand where you are coming from nut I believe that the point they are trying to make is that if we do not research this while we can how will we ever KNOW if we can have "healthy" children in space if we have to? The whole point of reproduction is continuing a race, if we do not research it now then in the future if/when we need to leave earth and inhabit a new place, being space or another planet then we will not know how the reproduction would work and that puts the human at even more of a risk then doing some research and experiments now while we can.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is inevitible that people will be having sex in space. this is something we will have to experiment with if we continue abuse the earth like we are now. everything we do had to have been experimented at one point. Whether or not the children are healthy depends on the circumstances. People do unhealthy things while pregnant down here on earth, is it immoral? Yes. But people do it anyways. We as human have the curiousity for exploration.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to experimenting with reproduction in space there is definitely a major ethical issue. It is quite obvious from the experiments that there will be significant biological issues with human reproduction in space. I don't understand how anyone could conscientiously do that to an innocent baby who has no say in the matter, especially when the likelihood of these experiments resulting in anything worthwhile is extremely unlikely. I have yet to see any proof that life on Mars will ever be a feasible option for the human race to replace Earth. These experiments are not worth the risks to innocent people, let alone the the astronomical cost involved that could be better utilized elsewhere and do a lot more good.
