The Abyss

The universe is a very large and powerful place, with tons of areas and organisms. I think of it as a large black abyss looking from the ant point of view from earth. As a whole it is a magnificent thing to think about, I find it to be scary how big the universe is, and it is still expanding and moving throughout the years. Also the science of it all and the explorations and unknown part of it makes it seem mystical. I picture the universe as a small part of something bigger that no one knows about. This might be the imagination in my mind. I like to think that there is something so big and unknown all around us it is fascinating. I also think that it is just a lot of black void space with the occasional planets, meteors, galaxies and several things unknown to mankind. I believe that the not knowing aspect of the universe is what makes it such a popular topic. It is also why people find it so interesting to try and send people up into space to search for a number of things and I believe this will make us stronger and more knowledgeable in the future. Being able to actually get into space and search around and find the answers to all the questions mankind has had about the unknown is something that I think really helps us understand the whole beige of the earth and all the other planets. Over all the universe is a very big and unknown abyss that has so much more to be discovered and explored.

  1. I think 50,000 years from now we still won't be able to comprehend the enormity of the entire universe. There will always be places unobservable as well, from event horizons of black holes to gamma ray bursts. These places are so violent to life that robots would liquefy and be torn apart before they are able to observe them up close.

  2. Your post made me think of how little we know about our own planet still. There are thousands of miles of the deep sea left unexplored, and still places undiscovered. If the Earth is too big to handle, how could we ever fathom understanding the universe? Relating the universe to an abyss is a good allegory because we can stand on earth and look through telescopes and send out satellites, but we still look to be staring out into the void. Computer graphics can generate images of what it might look like out there, but will we ever know?
