Why in the Universe?

Watching these videos while definitely and interesting watch, they have left me wondering why we even are entertaining this idea at all. Don't we have enough issues with money, sex and child birth right here on earth? We have babies that are being still born, or even the baby that has SIDS isn't this something that we should be slightly more concerned with than having sex and giving birth on a planet we aren't even sure has a habitability situation at all. Why are we so focused on learning how things work on a planet that the odds of anyone in this lifetime will have to do? Watching this video is such a contradictory video, here on earth the slightest thought of anything restraint related when coming to sex is considering rape, or even the unmentioned BDSM, yet using them on a space shuttle would just be part of having sex. How is this something that can be entertained as a society when they (restraints of any form) are so looked down upon now, here on earth?

Yes, I do believe they should be held accountable to public opinion. If they are using money that they get from tax dollars they should be held to the same standards as any other person that uses tax dollars. While I understand that they are government agency in a sense, we still get to have a vote on who to elect to run certain government situations, even F.E.M.A and agencies like that are supposed to allow open records as to how they are spending monies they receive from anywhere. This is not my idea of something that needs to be researched, or even thought about or putting money into when there are many other issues that money could be used for. I understand possibilities are endless when coming to the universe but something are better left undiscovered.

  1. Amy, I agree with your post! There are definitely many other things that should be taken care of before we start throwing money into something like studying sex in space. I also agree that they should be held accountable to the public because they are the ones funding the projects.

  2. This was a good post. I also said that the public should be held accountable for it. You had a good point when you mentioned the tax dollars. Everything you said I basically agreed with. It is something I would never research or spend all my money on, but I do feel like it would be an interesting experiment. I’m not on bored with giving birth on space, but the whole having sex aspect can be interesting. This experiment is not going to do much for us in the future so why should we spend tons of money for this. just because people want to say their child in from a different universe? Again it would be very interesting, but I do not think we need to work on this experiment right away.
