Reach For the Stars

It is human nature to be curious. We are born with the inherent need to know more, to learn more, to grow and expand our minds. As civilizations grew and expanded, they began to explore to the further and further reaches of our world. It started out with sailing off to find new worlds and lands of adventure. Once we conquered land, we then started to conquer sea. Traveling to the deepest reaches of the ocean to discover the unknown and learn of its habitats and discover how survival was possible. It seemed only to make sense that once we began exploring the bottoms of the ocean that our focus would move to the sky. Man had already developed the concept of flight but now wanted to reach for the stars. With the first moon landing in 1969, it just fed our hunger to travel further since we now knew it could be achieved. We then stove to discover the mysteries not only of our galaxy but of all galaxies. We developed stronger telescopes and new techniques for research, constantly striving to find more, learn more. We do this in every aspect of our lives, not only space exploration. Many individuals devote their whole lives to the discovery of a new species, a new molecular compounds, or a cure for disease. If we did not have a natural curiosity that needed to be filled, the world would be a very different place. While I think we may sometimes take things to the extreme, the tendency for us to seek answers for the unknown is what sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. As far as for the future, anything is possible. There are limitless possibilities and there will always be someone looking for answers.

  1. I do believe that even when we reach the subject we have been searching for we just keep finding something else to discover and explore. This is what keeps the human race so strong, the willingness to find new things and new places and even better ways to make anything.

  2. You are very right, if not for the curiosity to know more we would be a very different world. I think you pinpointed it well that we do take some things to the extreme. I am sure there is much about our planet that we have not yet discovered and it seems that we should focus on discovering more about our own little world before we try to take on the universe.
