Frisky Flying
After watching "Sex in Space" I honestly am confused as to why this is a goal that we as humans are really focused on and that they should be held accountable. The documentary talks about all the abnormalities and developmental problems that can occur if a child were to be born in microgravity. If two people can have sex, conceive, carry a baby full term, and then have a child on Earth, then why would we not just stick to this form of development in children? There are problems even on Earth that happen and if we were more focused on those problems when it comes to developing children, I think that more money would be able to go in to fixing these issues rather than trying to figure out how to stop them from happening in space. I do understand that this happening for the first time would make history and that it would be interesting, but I still think that the amount of money that is going in to this experiment could be used on much more pressing issues that we deal with under a day to day basis. I really do not think that the price going in to this research is going to be beneficial in any way.
Dr. Jim Logan from the documentary stated something along the lines of “new priorities” needed to be developed to understand how mammals would develop in space. I think that he is correct on new priorities needing to be developed, but I think that the priorities should be shifted on to researching things such as a cure for cancer, or more currently, stopping the spread of Ebola, or even in education rather than focusing on how to successfully conceive a child in space.

I totally agree with you. Reading theses posts some people are actually for it. Which I can see why somewhat because of how interesting it is but like I said in my post, we all the time in the world to figure this out. We don't know 100% if millions of lives can even be sustained out in space. So this is why I wouldn't want my money to go towards this project.
