Human Nature

I think its human nature to venture into the unknown. If we didn't feel the need to venture into the unknown and understand why things are the way they were we wouldn't have the words "who, what, why, when, where, and how". From a young age we ask questions, why is the sky blue? How do birds know where to fly? Whats out there in the universe? How does that work? Since people have been asking questions-others have been striving to find the answers.

If people had never asked questions-never wondered about how the world and beyond worked we would never have the things that we have today. We wouldn’t smart phones, the internet, or medicine. If we weren’t always wondering how to make things better, how things worked, we would never be where we are today.

Where we are going is something I’m excited to see. I see CRNA’s at work doing research because they are curious about anesthesia induce psychosis in elderly patients over the age of 65. One of the projects I’m involved in is how to reduce hospital acquired infections after surgery.  It’s not as a big as venturing into the unknown of the universe but it does prove that point that as long as people are asking questions, there will always be someone trying to answer them. Its our human nature, as long as we wonder we will try to find a way to answer.

  1. Without a doubt we are an inquisitive species. The new technology age which you discuss will revolutionize everything we are. The resulting innovation will dramatically transform our lives and provide large dividends to our future generations.

  2. I totally agree! I say this because you are right we will never know if we do not ask or if we do not wonder at times. Curiosity has brought the world where we are today. Without people in the past asking questions or being curious of what certain things do we would not have some of the stuff we have today. Or even our doctors they have been curious of testing certain things to find cures.

  3. Fully agreed Kay. Human nature is the main ingredient in this soup. We would never be where we are today, but of course that's in a positive and negative light. Regardless of any negative consequences, it has still made us who we are and chiseled a large portion of where we will probably end up.

I really like the point you made regarding our advancements in medicine. There would have been so many lost souls without the treatments we have today.

  4. Curiosity has helped create so many best practices in health care. We have achieved so much knowledge in health care because so many have been curious.
