The vast univesre

The universe is the black hole in human knowledge. From a basic perspective, everything in the universe is composed of different elements, which interact with each other in physical terms that humans define. The size of the universe is hard to comprehend just by looking at the sky. When we look at stars, or even light from the sun, the average person does not realize the time it takes to see light at one particular moment. The universe is large enough to measure in light-years, or the amount of time that light can travel in one year, or almost six trillion miles. Humans can see tens of millions of light-years into the universe, a distance hard to comprehend. There are many different galaxies in the universe, with each one revolving around a black hole. Each galaxy contains hundreds of millions to hundreds of trillions of stars, which can have orbiting planets, possibly with moons. Over one-hundred billion galaxies are visible from earth. The universe is so vast, with so much matter, that the human race may never know its true size and content. Theories exist about how the universe originated, but may never be proven. Even black holes, thought to be figured out, will never be more than observed. It is theoretically impossible to get close enough to a black hole to truly test any theories, which leaves only observations of the natural occurrences. But in the average human life, we only see and interact with other people and resources on Earth. In any single human life, they will travel a distance that wouldn’t be comparable to the galaxy we live in, live for a fraction of the age of our own planet, and most likely will never see or know about the true extent of the universe.

  1. It is truly unbelievable to me how vast the universe is. I will never be able to comprehend what all is out there. It would be amazing if we would be able to explore other galaxies. Maybe some day.

  2. It really is just a concept that we as humans cannot grasp in full extent. Trying to comprehend that there are too many stars to count or that the sky goes on forever is mind boggling. Also, It is almost frightening to think about how much we still do not know about this world we live in. I enjoyed your post!
