The Curious Unknown

I believe that humans are very curious creatures by nature.  All of my life I have been intrigued by the “great unknown”, and I have noticed that almost everyone whom I have met in life has a seemingly natural curiosity about them.  I think it is because we have a tendency to want to know about new things, or in other words new information all of the time.  The internet is a great example of this, as with a few taps on a keyboard and you have more than one million results in less than one second on whatever subject you may have searched for.  All of this information is literally at ones fingertips almost proves how curious humans really are.  For if we were just content with the status quo, as in just knowing what we know, we would not have such a vast source of information available at almost all times.  If humans were not so naturally curious we might not have ever left the earth’s atmosphere in order to see space and the moon, and more importantly now the vast universe around us that is not immediately accessible via a space mission.  In the not so distant future I believe humans will let our curiosity take us to new places, both physically, mentally, medically and really overall advance our knowledge of the sciences.  We have the potential to explore our world and the universe in all new ways so long as we as a species keep pushing ourselves to discover new information.

  1. Stephen,
I also believe that because some of us are curious, we have a lot of information that is readily available to us. The curious ones ask questions about anything they want to know about and don’t just sit by and accept any strange thing that may happen. If that was the case, there would not be as many discoveries as there are now. The internet is a great example of this because of how much information it may have on just a single topic. If humans continue to be curious and let their selves be challenged, there is no saying what can be discovered in the future.

  2. Stephen,
I really enjoyed reading your post. When you said that the internet is one of the things that most people are curious about because it always contains new information, I couldn't agree with more on that fact. The internet does always seem to have new and interesting information for people to read and be curious about. Everyone is curious about one thing or another, right? If we keep being as curious as we are, there is no telling in what could happen in the future.
