Nosey People

I always thought people were nosey in the first place. I don’t care who you are; we all want to know details about anything. So what is it about humans nature that makes us want to venture into the unknown is because we are nosey and wants to know what is going on? So going back to the quote by Neil degrease Tyson, when something is far away and the first thing you want to do is get closer is because we are all nosey. I am too; I will stare at something far away until I get close enough to realize it wasn’t anything important. Not saying this is a bad thing at all. It has influenced the development of our civilization so far because we wanting to learn more. We are discovering new things as we go along trying to figure out this unknown and we are still trying. I always wonder how the future is going to be. In the "Unexplained Mysteries" video they talked about time traveling. If we actually figure out how to time travel is anyone ever going to live a normal life or are we all just going to try to rewind when we regret something or fast forward when we don’t want to deal with something anymore? Then again we can discover something that can help us out in the future. That is why it is good to be curious or in my case nosey because we learn so much and expand our knowledge.

  1. I do believe that humans are nosey. We want to know everything about everybody and everything around us. However, I believe we are curious about our surroundings. We want to understand why something works a specific way or why some people think this or that way. We like that adventure of finding out more. I believe that we are not fully satisfied unless we know all the details, we as humans enjoy learning. Time travel would be awesome, but each moment brings us to who we are today and who we are today. I think if we had time travel it would effect our lives in a negative ways. We have specific paths to go down, we would all change those paths if we could through time travel.

  2. I think its interesting how almost everyones posts promote curiosity as the reason for why we scrutinize everything, but you used the word nosey. It almost makes us sound like twelve year olds, which I think is ironic because sometimes we spend most of our time, curiosity, and money on childish things. For example, spending millions of dollars on space travel seems silly to me when we could be spending it on finding the cure to cancer. This is not to say that I disagree with you, because I do not. I agree that people are very nosey, I am very nosey. we constantly need to know what is going on with each other. If this is not for knowledge and safety (such as the news), then it is for entertainment (such as social media and shows such as TMZ).

  3. Time travel is an interesting concept. Very sci-fi, however, very impractical. It rips apart every notion we have about time and makes time somewhat less valued. If we can rewind then I don't think we would value our time with people and things as much as we do now. Not to mention, we all screw up, that's life, but we learn from our mistakes, correcting those mistakes, as much as I love the idea of it, would not have such a lesson on us. Imagine being so angry with someone that you hurt them or God forbid, kill them. Would rewinding time and making it not happen make it any less wrong? Killing or hurting someone for any reason is inexcusable. Just an example. Very interesting concept, time travel, but it is really too far-fetched for me to ponder at this point.

  4. I think if we time traveled all the time, we would never truly learn from our mistakes. I think it would make life easier but at the same time much more difficult. I love curiosity because it can get us in trouble and also teach us some valuable lessons. I'm sure cavemen had the curiosity to touch fire and learned that it is indeed not a good thing to touch. If we time traveled all the time to fix mistakes, what's the point of living life as it should be?

  5. I also found it interesting that you chose to use the word nosey to describe us as humans because it sounds like its used negatively. It's completely true though. We are all so nosey about what other people are doing. I also thought the part about time travel was interesting. It sounds like an awesome thing on the surface but really it would take a way a lot of things that are important in life. I think there would definitely be a lot of rewinding and fast forwarding but that could alter the way everyone lives in a huge way.

  6. I think that nosey and curious are words that can mean the same thing, yet be different at the same time. Curiosity more often leads us to discover new things, our nosiness is what leads us to know our neighbors secrets, even if we regret it afterwards. I think when we are not given a meaningful situation to find the answer to, we will automatically find a way to find the answer to some question, no matter how trivial they are.

  7. You are right that as humans we are always looking for new things and always influenced by something. We need to be entertained and need to know what is going on all the time. I personally don’t think that it is being nosey per say. When I think of being nosey I think of something different than curious. This was a good post though. Nice job.
