When I hear the word universe I think of space, but when I take time to step back and think about it, I have quite a few definitions of the universe. First it is the world as a whole, its everything we know and everything we do not know. Its infinite, every little particle in the world is connected in some way all intertwined, creating the universe as a whole. Then it can be broken down into smaller parts. The universe can also be what is actually happening in your life, your little "bubble," your family, friends, job etc.. This is where many of us tend to get too caught up in, we don't realize there is a whole other universe outside of our own. I think we also make specific individuals our universe, everything we do is for that loved one and if we lost that person our universe collapses. We like our universes to run smoothly without any changes, because if they do not we tend to feel very vulnerable.
Overall, the universe cannot be described in full extent, its such a huge concept that we cannot wrap our minds around. I think infinity is the best word to describe what I think of the universe, it is just to big for us to grasp.
I like how you intertwine the endlessness of the "space" universe with the universe of our own lives. Everything that goes on in our lives really is our own little universe among everyone else's. Each thought, action, and person in it can contribute to its well-being, or become its downfall. Both of these ideas of universes can be seen as unknown as the other. We can learn and discover a lot about both of them over time, but we'll never discover anywhere near all of their meaning and contents.
