The Vast Unknown

When I think about the universe as a whole the adverbs that come to mind are ones such as: expansive, massive, unexplored and unattainable.  The universe is a huge area that we really don’t know much about.  We have sent men and animals in space to learn more about it but have often times come back with more questions than answers. We have had a man walk on the moon and work on satellites but we still don’t know a lot about the universe as a whole.  We are asking the astronauts to go through very rigorous tests and challenges to be deemed worthy of space exploration.  We just need to be sure that we are making it worth the energy and resources we are spending to do this.   Who knows what we may find on the next mission though?  We could possibly find a new star or planet that we didn’t know existed before.  There is so much out there to be studied.  It seems though the more we study the more questions that come about.  The universe is a huge unknown that we are trying to conquer.   I don’t believe we will every truly conquer it.  There is too much up there and too much going on for us to even try.  It makes my head spin to think about what is miles above us.  There are possibly planets, stars or even solar systems that we don’t even know exist yet.  Although with the way technology is advancing we are learning more and more every day

  1. The universe is "massive" as you said and through the time of sending astronauts to space and all the challenges that they have to deal with to reach there just to study this huge universe. Throughout the years we have studied many stars, moon matter, and other extraordinary creations above us. Being able to realize that there is nothing we are able to but little at a time of knowing everything that their is in this world.

  2. I think finding out more about the universe would be exciting, just to see what is out there, but I agree that we always come away with more questions than answers. Finding out there are more planets or stars is awesome, but what are the true benefits from this? Why are we spending a lot of money for people and animals to go up in space if we do not do anything with these objects?

  3. You are right, the universe is "massive", and with every exploration we want to know even more. I think part of the issue with these missions to space is that maybe the general public is given very little information about why these missions are being performed and what advances they are making with each trip. I admit I have become a bit skeptical about the space program, but I also don't fully understand why they do what they do. Tax dollars are spent on these very secretive projects that would probably have a higher approval rating if people understood their purpose. However, until that happens it makes you wonder why we are endangering lives and spending such a large amount of money to discover new stars or planets when the only impact they have on our lives is it addition to a star chart.

  4. I really enjoyed your article! I like how you used the adverbs to expansive, massive, unexplored and unattainable to describe the universe. I completely agree! I do not believe that we will every be able to achieve the "complete knowledge" about the universe and what all it holds. I agree with the use of technology we are discovering more and more, but I think there is way more out there than what we even think. We can ask questions all day about the universe some may get answered tomorrow or a hundred years from now, possibly never. The universe I feel is constantly growing and changing so we will never actually know everything!

  5. Kimberly,
I really enjoyed your blog post! Like you said, the world is "massive" and an "unknown" place. There is a lot out there that we don't know about. Like you said, there may even be planets and solar systems that we didn't even know existed. We are spending a lot of time trying to get people to go over to space and explore/research what is over there. Like you said, there are still going to be questions raised no matter how much we try to accomplish. However, I feel that the more questions that get asked, the more curious you are to explore more about it. You really had some valid points in your post! Great job, Kimberly!
