Blog Post #8

The universe is something too large to even think about. There are so many different aspects to the universe that we do not even know about and it takes a long time to fully digest it all. In Packing For Mars they talked about going up in space and feeling the emotion of anxiety. This emotion is a lot from being  in a conformed suit and living in a small space. However, I believe a lot of my anxiety would come from considering the never ending universe. To imagine that there are other worlds out there with a never ending universe with  star, planets and black holes is overwhelming yet extraordinary thought.

The universe I believe is described  as being silent and open, and every changing, combined with everything that has ever existed. The universe is a mystery, yet unimaginable and magical. There will always be something new that we will discover which makes the universe exciting and forever changing. In the book they discuss how if you somehow get loose, there is no one there that can help you. I cannot imagine be lost in space, boundaries are limitless in the universe. The universe as a whole is almost lonely thinking of how it never ends and it all black, it is crazy. The universe has an ending, but no exact ending - how crazy is that? We will never find out what the entire universe consist of, even with amazing technology that will come in the future I believe it is limitless and will never be completely found.

Taking away the scientific part of the universe. My universe consists of my family, friends, boyfriend, my dog and my passions. My life revolves around these wonderful people and I believe someone's universe is different, depending on their life, morals, and beliefs. The universe revolves around us, but our lives revolve around our perfect world.

  1. I agree in the rolling of your thoughts about the universe not ending. We are such creatures of compartmentalization, that the idea of trying to map out and box what is so far out of our comprehension, that it seems brave yet almost foolish to try. If life were cheaper, people more expendable, and cost much lower, it would be wise to send a few ships out there to...see what happens and learn from that. Happily we aren't that cruel, but sadly this hampers our unique exploration. Nice post Taylor.
