Clubs and Relationships

Watching the film "The Social Network" was a really good film. I learned a lot about the Facebook network. It seemed like the two friends in the film really went all out with making Facebook and getting people to join. Even though, they did somehow get into trouble with it, they did end up making a lot of money. I feel that they created Facebook to have a new way to stay connected with friends and family through the internet. Social Networking has affected forms of personal intimacy in many ways. It seemed like when Mark created the Facebook page, he made it so people have another way to meet online. For example, you can search someones name, become friends with them, and if you want to start a relationship with them, there was a way for you to change your relationship status. Going from: Single to In a Relationship. People can be getting into relationships with people halfway around the world if they wanted to. Also, there even could be a page that is just for gay and lesbian people to use to get into a relationship with someone. Also, there a lot of clubs and things that you are able to join on Facebook as well. For example, there is a Facebook page for Disney films. When you like that page it would give you updates on your News-feed about all the upcoming Disney films that are coming out. Or maybe there would be a Facebook page for cats (I know, weird, but just an example). There a millions of people worldwide that have access to a Facebook page now and could do almost anything with it.

  1. Great points i believe that facebook was created for the same reason just as myspace which came before it. I dont think it will destroy intimacy a much as give people more opportunities to make a connection
