Social Media has effected intimacy in
many different ways. Today we can look
up almost anybody at any time online. So
everyone can basically get a background check on you whenever they want. But on the other end of the spectrum, people
also use social media to meet new people.
There are apps on phones that find other people near you with the same
app. Then you swipe to decide if you
want to talk or not. If both parties
select yes then it allows them to have a conversation. That is one way were it doesn’t deter intimacy
but provokes it.
Another
app allows people to write and post statuses anonymously and it uses their
location to show other people what they posted.
This however becomes a distraction when everybody in your class is
posting about class and the professor hilariously. Because then one tends to become distracted. Social networks also broaden do to social
media. More people know more people in
general now. And as more people start to
meet more people then they continue to grow.
All in
all social media allows us to connect with our friends and family, gives us a
laugh here and there and helps us to kill time when we are bored. There are great social media sites to follow
that are dedicated toward humor and they are a great way to relieve some stress
which we all have.
You mentioned locations and I just wanted to share how terrifyingly scary it is to be able to be found so easily any time of the day or night because we don't even realize our location is on in our phones!
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of common sense, there is so much good coming from social networking but that is when you use it correctly! It's not necessary for people to be announcing WHERE they are at EVERY second of the day. I like keeping in touch with my family in other states but do I really need to document every single second and every tiny move I make??
