Network Awareness

You used to have to meet face to face with anyone if you wanted to get in contact of them. Now there are various new mediums in which can communicate with anyone. Even mentioning cell phones is old news in communication. Currently it’s all about what those cell phones, and similar devices can do. There are new apps being released all the time that help people get connected. Between messaging apps, video chats, picture messaging, and all the apps that combine these features, you are always connected to anyone you want to get in contact with. With all of this change and innovation happening, it is no longer people on both sides of a fence arguing what is good for the group, it is people all across the world tweeting, Facebooking, and texting each other to discuss important matters. One of the topics that are often touched on with whether or not this changing world with increasing use in technology is good. Thankfully, this is now argument you can have with anyone. You can text your college roommate any time of the day about it. You can Facebook it to simultaneously share it with hundreds or thousands of people. You can create your own hashtag to raise awareness on the issue. You can even message your Aunt you haven’t seen in years because she lives across the country. Of course all of these would be ironic, because you would be using the medium that you are criticizing. Without the use of social networking, we would have a much more difficult time connecting and building relations with many people we currently have a relationship with.
